David spent 37 years with Chevron in a variety of positions including in Research and Development, Safety, Compliance, Shipping, Offshore and Refining. He has worked with several of the other outstanding JEM Advisors that are listed. In 1996, David started researching gasket and bolting technology while in Refining to try and resolve both gasketed connection and fugitive emission leaks. The program was so successful that it not only eliminated bolted connection leaks in tube and shell heat exchanger, pipe flanges, high pressure breech lock exchangers, Coke Drums and valve packing glands, but the technology has had a major impact on industries around the world in helping facilities obtain leak free and reliable bolted connections. As David points out “Rework needed to mitigate loss of containment is a waste of resources and can be detrimental to safety, the environment and a company’s bottom line. Sealing technology has advanced to the point where nothing should be leaking.” David is on the ASME B16.20 committee on the construction of spiral wound gaskets, has published several ASME-PVP technical and trade magazine papers, has taught the Sealing and Bolting class for many years at AFPM conference, and has traveled the world doing training and consulting on bolted connection issues.
